Today's show starts off a little differently than normal. Andy wants to address Obama and his changing view on gay marriage. Who better to discuss it with him than our Intern Tawny who is gay and an Obama supporter. Find out how Intern Tawny feels about civil unions vs. marriage and of course, Amendment 1. As much as Tawny wants the right to marry whomever she chooses, she's not sure America is quite yet ready for it and thinks Obama is playing it a little safe so as not to lose votes. She also gives an eloquent answer when asked which is more important to her, economic or social issues. "Social issues," she says, "because that defines our community; it defines our culture." Later, Dr. Mitch joins Andy to talk about today's top medical stories. A woman gets a flesh eating virus after ziplining. Dr. Mitch says this virus could be anywhere and we are making it worse with our overuse of anti-bacterial products. Terrifying. I'll admit it, I suffer from cell phone separation anxiety. It is the strangest thing, but especially since I moved to the iPhone, I have to have it on me at all times. Even when I'm home watching the tube or having dinner. It's always in my site. The upside to that is that I no longer have to worry about losing my phone. I could no more easily lose my left arm. There's a whooping cough epidemic. And, good news boys, drinking alcohol can make you smarter! In other news, here's a fun fact: more adult diapers are being sold in Japan than baby diapers.
Defense attorney Bradford Cohen calls in to discuss a few legal stories and argue with our callers. An AZ man lends a medical marijuana clinic $500K and can't get it back, an identical twin gets charged for a crime the other twin committed, and a child falls into a grease pit. Producer Miranda makes her appearance in studio to cover the Bizarre News of the day! A 70 year old virgin says she's ready to give it a go, but she's rather picky. First you have to marry her and she would prefer to "bag a tall, dark, and handsome millionaire." The next 'Bachelorette?'...No? A pizza maker gets his hand stuck in a dough machine. And a naked unicyclist stops traffic. he he he...
Okay, time to get serious. Hmph! Chief Political Correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor, Linda Feldmann joins Andy to talk 2012 Politics. They cover Obama's views on gay marriage and Santorum endorsing Romney. Also, will Newt Gingrich endorse Romney...or has he already? Think higher education equals higher pay? Wrong! More PhD's are on food stamps than ever before. Liza Mundy, a staff writer for the Washington Post comes on the show to talk about her new book The Richer Sex. I liked Liza a lot! More and more women are becoming the breadwinners in their households. What does this do to the social dynamic between men and women? Andy dreams of the day he can marry a rich woman and have her take care of him for life. He'd have nooo problem with that! Would you? And ladies, would you be bothered if your man made less? I want to hear your thoughts. If you're in a relationship where the woman makes more, email me. firstname.lastname@example.org.
